Position Purpose
K’en T’em is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fisheries Biologist to join our team. As a Fisheries Biologist, you will be responsible for assisting with a variety of fish and aquatic-based projects. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys the outdoors and has previous experience working with fish, or fish habitats.
Duties & Responsibilities
Collection, analysis, and reporting of fish and fish habitat data,
Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations,
Support with writing and submitting permits and authorizations,
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations,
Seek out funding and contracts through government, non-government, and industrial partnerships,
Conduct fish habitat assessments,
Conduct environmental monitoring,
Conduct fish and wildlife habitat assessments,
Conduct fish and amphibian salvage,
Conduct environmental monitoring,
Support with writing and submitting permits and authorizations, and
Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager or designate
Skills & Qualifications
Master of Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Biology or equivalent,
M.Sc. or B.Sc. is preferred, although K’en T’em is open to candidates with a diversity of knowledge from different backgrounds,
Registered Professional Biologist designation or ability to acquire designation,
Current knowledge of BC fish and wildlife species and ecology,
Current knowledge of BC and Federal legislation, government agencies and permitting procedures
Field skills in aquatic biology,
Exceptional communication and report writing skills,
A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License, with access to a reliable personal vehicle,
Willingness to travel for work
Clean drivers abstract.
