Position Purpose
K’en T’em is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Junior Biologist to join our team. As a Junior Biologist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing monitoring programs, conducting field investigations, developing management plans, preparing technical reports and presentations, conducting data analysis and interpretation, managing project schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conducting field investigations and collecting samples,
Analyzing biological data,
Developing and implementing monitoring programs,
Conducting modelling and analysis,
Preparing technical reports and presentations,
Managing project schedules and budgets,
Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations,
Developing workplans and project budgets,
Supporting and leading field programs,
Conducting data collection, compilation, analysis and reporting,
Conducting fish and wildlife habitat assessments,
Conducting fish and amphibian salvage,
Conducting bird nest sweeps and surveys,
Conducting environmental monitoring,
Supporting with writing and submitting permits and authorizations, and
Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Biologist or designate.
Skills & Qualifications
Master of Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Biology or equivalent is an asset,
1-2 years of experience working in a Biology field is an asset,
Degree in Environmental Studies is required,
Exceptional communication and report writing skills,
BIT or ability to obtain Professional Designation,
Current knowledge of BC fish and wildlife species and ecology,
Current knowledge of BC and Federal legislation, government agencies and permitting procedures,
Field skills in aquatic and terrestrial biology, and
Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License is required and a willingness to travel for work.
Committed to undertaking training to further skills in environmental monitoring, studies, and leadership,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
Experience with MS Office applications and GIS is considered an asset,
Positive attitude towards complying with health and safety systems,
