The Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly (CNA) is calling Grade 11 & 12 youths of its eight Participating Bands to participate in an exposure trip to Vancouver from January 26 to 28.
The 10 selected youth will attend the Association of Mineral Exploration (AME) Roundup conference at the Vancouver Convention Centre, visit the UBC campus and the Museum of Anthropology, and take a trip to Teck Corporate and Fluor offices.
The opportunity is also open to NVIT students pursuing careers in Natural Resources sector. Youths interested can apply on https://ow.ly/p53G50XMOET.
The last date for registration is January 12. For any questions or concerns, please reach out to Xni Grismer at xgrismer@cna-trust.ca or call our office at 250-378-1864.
This exposure trip is sponsored by Teck Resources, one of K’en T’em Limited Partnership’s proud partners.
“This is a great opportunity for our community youths to get a better sense of the mineral resource industry, what are the economic driving factors, a peek into the different side of the mining world. It will also serve as a great inspiration of nłeʔképmx youth to experience the AME Roundup conference, where they will attend the Gathering Place (a forum to discuss mineral exploration’s evolving role in reconciliation on January 28),” informed Sarah Desrosiers, CNA’s Implementation manager.
On their visit to the UBC campus, the students will take a tour starting at the First Nations House of Learning as well as the Museum of Anthropology to visit nłeʔképmx ancestral belongings.
The trip is not just about learning and exploring. The youths will enjoy a movie night and pizza dinner on January 27.
